SOUND BOULDER (Baienfurt 2017)
The History
To commemorate the murder of ten persons of Baienfurt during the era of nationalsocialism in Germany,
The Attempt
As Artists we are Trustees for the Stories we got told.
We transfer or transform it into a specific Form.
That means form-ulation / formulation. Dialog and Talking inspired by an Art-Work.
This is an ongoing and never-ending process.
Memory is not stable – Memorials are (and should be) not stable either. Concerning Family-Silencing
Where you can „hear“ the Silence you can also „hear“ the context Mobilize Memory
Mobilize Memorials
Mobilize Society
Social Mobilization
The Design
A Rock in the middle of the Town Square
Something is appearing re-appearing
A big Sound-Bowl, casted in Bell-Bronze
A surface, but hollow. A shelter for any content.
Makes Silencing visible, hearable.
A stone of impact.
If you touch it, it starts to sound with a deep and dark voice. It sounds different at each part, so it has many possible voices Oneself and everyone around can hear it
This reflects also yourself, one’s own action or agency
How to focus tabus that still exist? How to focus ongoing conflicts?
Do I forward silencing or will I teach power of speech?
The Memorial needs the Interaction with the visitor – otherwise it remains silent. But it is present anyways.
So rise up a voice
